⭐ ECHOES BENEATH THE SILENT MOON – Part 1
![]() |
| Some stories fade with time… but some echoes remain forever. |
The village of Rahmanpur lived under a strange silence after sunset. No one walked alone. No child played outside. Even the wind seemed afraid to move through the old bamboo forest at the edge of the village.
Abdur Rahman had heard the rumors all his life—
the forest was cursed… someone or something moved there at night… and those who heard the late-night whispers never returned the same.
But he never believed it.
Until the night Sumaiya disappeared.
She had gone to deliver medicine to an elderly woman living on the far side of the forest. It was supposed to be a ten-minute walk. Abdur Rahman waited… and waited… and waited.
When she didn’t return even after an hour, fear began to choke him. He grabbed a lantern and went straight toward the bamboo forest.
As he entered, the air grew unnaturally cold.
The trees looked twisted, leaning as if they were listening.
Then he heard it—
a faint whisper…
“Don’t come closer…”
It was Sumaiya’s voice.
But it sounded weak, broken… almost unreal.
“Sumaiya! Where are you?” Abdur Rahman shouted.
No reply.
Only the whispering wind, curling around him like invisible hands.
Suddenly the lantern flickered violently and went out.
Darkness swallowed him whole.
A smell—like old blood and rotten soil—crept into the air.
And then…
A scream tore through the forest.
A scream so sharp, so filled with terror, that it didn’t sound human.
Abdur Rahman felt his knees weaken.
“SUMAIYA!” he cried again.
But this time, a different voice answered—
low, cold, and inhuman:
“She heard the whispers.
Now the forest owns her.”
Abdur Rahman froze.
His lantern lay broken.
His heartbeat pounded like thunder.
And from somewhere deep inside the darkness, he heard footsteps.
Slow.
Heavy.
Dragging something across the ground.
Something that smelled like death itself…
The night was no longer silent.
The nightmare had just begun.
⭐ ECHOES BENEATH THE SILENT MOON – Part 2
The forest did not let him run.
When Abdur Rahman tried to move back, the ground beneath his feet felt soft—like wet flesh instead of soil. His legs trembled. Every instinct told him to flee, yet something deeper, something darker, whispered for him to stay.
A pale moonlight broke through the branches for a moment, and he saw it—
A trail.
A long, uneven trail carved into the soil…
as if something had been dragged, leaving a dark smear behind.
“Sumaiya…” he whispered, voice cracking.
He followed the trail, though every step felt like stepping into a grave. The deeper he went, the heavier the silence became—so heavy that even his breathing sounded like thunder.
Suddenly he reached an open clearing.
At the center stood an old, half-collapsed shrine—one that villagers said belonged to an ancient time, long before any living memory. Moss grew over its stones, and the air around it tasted metallic, almost like blood.
The whispers began again.
Soft.
Broken.
Coming from everywhere at once.
“Don’t… look…”
He knew the voice.
It was Sumaiya.
But it was coming from inside the ruined shrine.
Abdur Rahman pushed the broken wooden door—it groaned like a dying creature. The inside was soaked with darkness, unmoving, suffocating.
He held his breath.
Then he saw something hanging from the ceiling.
Not a person.
Not an animal.
Something twisted… shaped like a human shadow burned into flesh.
The smell hit him—
metallic, rotten, unbearable.
He stumbled back, choking.
“SUMAIYA! Answer me!” he cried desperately.
This time, a gasp came from somewhere behind him.
He turned.
And there—leaning against the cracked stone altar—
was Sumaiya.
Her clothes torn, her hands shaking, her eyes wide with terror.
But she was alive.
Barely.
“Rahman…” she whispered. “You… shouldn’t have come…”
He rushed toward her, but she weakly raised her hand to stop him.
“They’re… here,” she said, barely breathing.
“They never let anyone leave… after hearing the whispers…”
A cold vibration spread through the floor.
The air turned thick and icy.
From the darkness behind her, shadows began to move—
sliding across the walls like liquid…
stretching… twisting…
Forming shapes that did not belong to this world.
Sumaiya’s voice trembled:
“Rahman… run…”
But behind them, the shrine door slammed shut with a crash.
They were trapped.
And then the shadows spoke—
in one voice, layered, ancient, unearthly:
“You brought him back.
Now both of you belong to the silent moon.”
The ground shook.
The shadows thickened.
The lantern outside burst like a dying star.
Abdur Rahman grabbed Sumaiya’s hand.
The nightmare had come closer.
Too close.
And escape was no longer an option.
⭐ ECHOES BENEATH THE SILENT MOON – Part 3 (Final Part)
The shrine trembled as if something ancient had awakened beneath it. Dust fell from the cracked ceiling. Shadows slithered like living smoke, circling Abdur Rahman and Sumaiya with a hunger that felt older than time itself.
Abdur Rahman held Sumaiya’s trembling hand tightly.
“Stay with me,” he whispered.
Her voice shook. “Rahman… I don’t think we will make it.”
“We will,” he insisted—even though fear twisted inside his chest like a knife.
But the shadows heard him.
They laughed.
A sound like bones grinding against stone.
Then a shape emerged—
taller than a man, yet thin as a dying tree, its body made of swirling darkness.
No eyes. No mouth.
Only a hollow mask of shadow.
It pointed toward Sumaiya.
“She listened first.
She belongs to us.”
“No!” Abdur Rahman shouted.
He pulled Sumaiya behind him, but the air itself thickened, grabbing at his limbs like cold chains. The shadow creature moved closer, stretching its long fingers toward her face.
Sumaiya clutched Rahman’s arm and whispered:
“Don’t fight it… They never stop… They never lose…”
Her voice broke.
Tears streamed down her face—not from pain, but from the terror of losing him.
Abdur Rahman shook his head violently.
“No. I will not let them take you.”
He stepped forward, putting himself between her and the creature.
The shadows hissed.
The creature snarled.
Then it struck.
A blast of cold darkness hit Abdur Rahman’s chest, throwing him against the stone wall. His breath vanished. His vision blurred. Pain spread like fire wrapped in ice.
Sumaiya screamed and ran toward him, but shadowy hands grabbed her ankles, pulling her down, dragging her across the stone floor.
“RAHMAN!” she cried.
He forced himself up, every bone in his body trembling.
He reached for her hand—
their fingers brushed—
But the shadows yanked her back.
“No… no… NO!” Rahman roared, crawling toward her.
Then something impossible happened—
The moonlight outside suddenly poured into the shrine, cutting through the darkness like a blade.
The shadows recoiled with a violent shriek.
Sumaiya looked at Rahman through tears.
She understood what the moonlight wanted.
She let go of his hand.
“Live,” she whispered.
“For me.”
And before he could stop her, Sumaiya stood—
weak, shaking—
but determined.
She stepped into the heart of the moonlight.
The shadows surged at her, trying to pull her back.
But the light wrapped around her like armor.
Her voice rose—frail, but unbroken:
“This ends with me.”
A flash—
so bright the whole shrine screamed.
The shadows burst apart like black dust.
The creature’s body split and dissolved.
The shrine walls cracked and collapsed.
And when the light faded…
Sumaiya was gone.
Only her scarf remained, lying gently on the floor.
Abdur Rahman crawled toward it, trembling, breath broken.
He lifted the scarf to his chest.
The forest was silent again.
The curse had ended.
But the price…
was everything.
He whispered into the cold night:
“Sumaiya… you saved us all… but you left me alone.”
The moon shone quietly, as if mourning with him.
And in the wind, for just one fleeting moment,
he heard her voice—
“I’m still with you…”
Then the night took back its silence.
The shadow whispers were gone forever.
But the grief…
would stay with him until his last breath.
